RFID: Technology, News and Products

The RFID-technology
(Radio-Frequenzy-IDentifikation) is based on an electromagnetic procedure, it is gaining a great importance next to the classic bar-code data recording. Höft & Wessel had integrated the RFID-technology in the classic mobile PDE and has executed several RFID projects.

A RFID-system
always consists of a RFID-reader, built into a mobile terminal, and a transponder (also called tag or smartlabel) which is fixed to the object to be identified.

Transponder

In contrast to the barcode the transponder does not need to be in sight of the reader, therefore it can be integrated safely and protected into the material. This feature is of vital advantage if an object has to be identified that is exposed to mechanical stress or strain for instance: aggressive detergent processes or other. The transponder can be affixed invisible and the access to the data can be authenticated encoded. So via RFID the objects can be secured against counterfeiting, transposing and misusages. The Auto-ID-Process is relatively safe against manipulation opposite to the barcode recording. An advantage that particularly comes to affect for maintenance and service.

Contrary to the ready printed barcode, new data can be recorded to the transponder during steps in process, or memorised data can be updated.
